Recognize that weight is only a rough guide.  It cannot replace the judgment of an owner who knows the dog’s size, mouth size, chew strength, and tooth strength.  When in doubt, choose the larger size for safety’s sake.

What are Lumabones made of?

Is Lumabone right for my dog?

First and foremost, no chew toy is perfect and all chew toys carry risk. See our instructions for use and safety information at http://www.lumabone.com/safety.

My dog is a strong chewer. How will Lumabone hold up?

We’d love to say that Lumabone is perfect for every dog, but no chew toy is perfect. While we believe that our made-in-USA product is best-in-class among nylon chews, they are not for all dogs. Please supervise chewing and reach out to us at info@lumabone.com if you have any issues with the product

How hard is a Lumabone?
Can puppies enjoy Lumabones, too? How about older dogs?

Given its hardness and durability, we recommend keeping Lumabone away from very young puppies under six months of age – especially those who may be teething – along with older dogs who may have compromised tooth structure. See our instructions for use and safety information for further details at http://www.lumabone.com/safety. But regardless of the rough poundage guidelines, choose the largest size your dog can handle.

Safety and Care

Can my dog eat Lumabones?

No, Lumabones are not edible. As with any chew toy, we recommend monitoring your dog’s use and replacing after reasonable wear.

Are dishwashers a good way to clean my dog's Lumabone?
Will Lumabone stain clothes or carpet?

Customers tell us that Lumabones do not stain carpet or clothing in general. However, we use natural ingredients to flavor, color and scent the product.  So keep it away from light colored carpets and clothing.

How long will a Lumabone last?

Lumabones are durable chews that are designed to last and retain flavor for a good while.  In general, they last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks or more, but we recommend replacing monthly, or sooner if wear indicates.

In general, if pieces of the Lumabone fall off that are the size of rice or smaller, these generally do not cause a problem. But if you see a risk to larger pieces coming off, discard and replace.

If any more than a sugar-cube’s worth of the product is missing, discard and replace.
